EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern continues its Big Ten season with a home series April 14-15 against Minnesota at Sharon J. Drysdale Field. The Wildcats have won each of their last two conference series, first at Wisconsin and then at home last week versus Iowa.
First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT while Sunday's series finale also will get underway at 1 p.m. CT. Fans are encouraged to first check out NU football's spring exhibition at noon Saturday in Ryan Field before making their way over to Sharon J. Drysdale Field for exciting B1G softball action. Sunday is Girl Scout Day at the ballpark; for more information email email@example.com.
UPDATE: Courtesy of two WNUR 89.3 FM alums and Northwestern World Series team broadcast veterans, there will be audio streamed LIVE for FREE on NUsports.com for all three games this weekend. Fans also can follow the action live via Gametracker at NUsports.com or via live Twitter updates from @NU_SportsLIVE (direct your web browser to http://www.twitter.com/NU_SportsLIVE if you are not a twitter user).
Northwestern moved up four spots in the most recent NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) data to No. 44 following its series win over Iowa last week. The Wildcats are easily the highest ranked team with a sub-.500 record, which continues to pay tribute to the challenging schedule NU has faced. Fully 29 of the 'Cats 36 games this year have come versus the RPI top 100.
Because of a scheduling quirk, Minnesota is making its third-straight trip to Evanston. NU last played in Minneapolis during the 2009 season. The Gophers are coming off a sweep at the hands of Wisconsin after they took 2-of-3 games from Nebraska prior to their series with the Badgers.
After this weekend, NU hits the road for a B1G series at Indiana before Chicagoland midweek games at Loyola (Chicago) (April 24) and at Northern Illinois (April 25).
