EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 23 Northwestern hits the road for the first time this season in Big Ten play for a three-game set at Iowa this weekend. As with every conference series so far in 2014, weather has adjusted the original schedule.

Instead of opening on Friday, NU and Iowa will play a Saturday, April 5, doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. CT before concluding with a single game Sunday, April 6, starting at 1 p.m. CT. UPDATE: Due to technical difficulties at Iowa's Pearl Field, the scheduled Big Ten Digital Network streams have been canceled. Northwestern's typical free live audio stream with SID Doug Meffley on the call will be available for all games this weekend as it has been for all road games this year.

The Wildcats remain at No. 23 in the USA Today/NFCA coaches poll for the third-straight edition after going 2-2 last week with run-rule wins over Northern Illinois and No. 19 Nebraska. The Cornhuskers bounced back after the Wildcats run-ruled them in the opener of that series to take two decisive decisions against the 'Cats in games two and three.

Last week, sophomore Andrea Filler completed an impressive streak of eight hits in eight-straight at-bats to tie All-American Adrienne Monka's school record set in 2009. Her streak spanned three games and included two doubles, a triple and a homer.

Fifth-year senior Emily Allard had a nice Monday evening. While sitting in class for her Integrated Marketing Communications graduate program, Allard received news that she had been selected 12th overall by the Chicago Bandits in the National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft.

Iowa enters this weekend with a 4-2 record in Big Ten play after taking two of three off a spunky Wisconsin squad. The Hawkeyes are 9-16 overall on the 2014 season.

With two homestands remaining later in the season, tickets for 2014 Northwestern softball are ON SALE NOW and can be purchased online at NUsports.com or by calling 888-GO-PURPLE (467-8775).
