EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch, in conjunction with Northwestern Softball, will be hosting a pre-game clinic at noon CT Saturday, April 2, prior to the Wildcats' doubleheader against Loyola (Chicago) at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
Former Wildcat, USA National Team member and current Chicago Bandit Tammy Williams will join former Canadian National Team member and current Bandit Caitlin Lever in Evanston Saturday for a free clinic that is open to all girls in first through eighth grades. The duo first will provide instruction, then take pictures and sign autographs until first pitch of NU's double-dip against the Ramblers at 1 p.m.
The duo will be joined by several former Wildcats at the clinic, which will take place in the outfield of Rocky Miller Park, NU's baseball facility located adjacent to Drysdale Field.
Registration is not required, but it is encouraged! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to register.
Williams -- a four-time All-American at Northwestern -- was the 2009 NPF Rookie and Defensive Player of the Year before taking 2010 off to compete professionally in Japan as well as with the USA National Team. Lever competed in the Beijing Olympics for her native Canada and has been a member of the Chicago Bandits since 2007.
Saturday's NCAA action between NU and Loyola (Chicago) will be a homecoming for 2010 Northwestern graduate and former Chicago Bandit Nicole Pauly, who now serves as an assistant coach with the Ramblers. Pauly will play for the Akron Racers in the 2011 NPF season.
The Chicago Bandits will open their seventh year of play in a brand new stadium in Rosemont, Ill. The 2008 NPF World Champions open the 2011 season June 9-12 against the USSSA Pride. For more information, visit ChicagoBandits.com.
