EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the third-consecutive year, No. 8 Northwestern is making an appearance at the Worth Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton. Annually drawing a tough field, this year's Invite features five contests for the Wildcats against teams coming into the weekend with winning or .500 records.

NU opens the event at 5:45 p.m. CT Friday, March 2 against Texas Tech (11-5) before facing San Diego State (8-6) at 8 p.m. CT Friday night. On Saturday, the Wildcats open the day at 1:15 p.m. CT against No. 9 Stanford (14-2), then take on No. 11 Oregon State (8-5) at 8 p.m. CT that night. NU closes the tournament at 1:15 p.m. CT Sunday, March 4 against Oklahoma State (8-8).

Should the Cowgirls enter their game against NU still with a .500 or better record, the Wildcats will have played teams at or above .500 in 14-consecutive games.

Gametracker and live streaming audio will be available at NUsports.com for the Saturday and Sunday games this weekend. Gametracker only might be available for Friday's games depending upon internet access. Live streaming audio is premium content available through NU All-Access on the NUsports.com audio/video page.

Northwestern fell one spot in the USA Today/NFCA coaches poll after going 4-1 at the Palm Springs Classic last weekend with wins over No. 2 Arizona State, No. 6 Oregon State, BYU and Cal Poly. The Wildcats lost to No. 12 UCLA in Sunday's getaway game.

Wildcats' head coach Kate Drohan comes into the weekend with a 196-95-1 career record, just four wins shy of victory No. 200 in her five-plus years at the helm of the NU program.

Sophomore Tammy Williams (Roscoe, Mo./Osceola) leads NU with a .469 batting average, 13 runs scored and 12 RBIs. Freshman pitcher Lauren Delaney (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) improved her record to 6-0 on the year with two wins last weekend, now sporting a team-best 1.18 ERA with 53 strikeouts and a pair of shutouts.
