EVANSTON, Ill. -- With fall ball, Phase II and winter camp all complete, the first pitch of the 2014 season has arrived for Northwestern this weekend, Feb. 7-8, at the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
The Wildcats will play four games this weekend, two each on Friday and Saturday, at their traditional season-opening destination. NU is making its ninth-straight trip to the desert and the Tempe Sports Complex (8403 S Hardy Dr, Tempe, AZ 85284).
Northwestern faces off with No. 22 Stanford to begin the year at 6:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. MT) Friday before taking on New Mexico immediately after at 9 p.m. CT/8 p.m. MT). On Saturday, NU has the exact same game times playing first Utah and then Boise State.
This season, for the first time, live audio will be provided for every single Northwestern game for the entire year. Tickets for 2014 Northwestern softball at Sharon J. Drysdale Field go on sale Monday, Feb. 24, and can be purchased online at NUsports.com or by calling 888-GO-PURPLE (467-8775). Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for youth and seniors, and $3 for groups of 15 or more. Northwestern is the host of the 2014 Big Ten Tournament beginning May 8 at Sharon J. Drysdale Field. All-session and group tickets for this premier, 12-team softball event also will go on sale at the end of February. The tournament will feature not only some of the nation's best softball, but also will feature the first-ever night game in the history of Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
