    Softball Falls to Iowa in Big Ten Tournament

    NU back in action tomorrow.

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern softball team fell to Iowa, 5-2, in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

    Iowa jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second, but Jackie DeBoard held Iowa to just one hit the rest of the way. The 'Cats picked up single runs in the fifth and sixth on singles by Kyla Hattabaugh and Mikie Chambers, but it wasn't enough. Chambers led the way with two hits and Amanda Peterson, Jill Nesbitt and Tami Jones all had hits.

    NU, now 34-18 overall, 15-9 in the Big Ten, will take on the loser of the Michigan-Minnesota first-round game tomorrow at 9 a.m.
