    Wildcats Finish Sweep of Spartans

    Jaclyn DeBoard Improves to 21-5 with the Victory

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern softball team completed a three-game series sweep at Michigan State with a 3-2 win Sunday. NU improves to 31-15 overall, 12-7 in the Big Ten. With the win, NU moves into sole possession of second place in the Big Ten standings. The top four teams at the end of the regular season advance to the Big Ten Tournament.

    NU jumped out to a 3-0 lead with single runs in the second, third and fourth innings. The 'Cats got unearned runs in the second and third and Lindsey Prezell hit her third homer of the season with one out in the fourth. Jackie DeBoard threw her second-consecutive complete game to get the win. She gave up two runs, one earned, and four hits as she improved to 21-5 on the year. She won all three games in the series.

    NU returns to action this Wed., April 29, when they host the #22 Iowa Hawkeyes in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Anderson Field.
