    Softball Splits Pair with Loyola

'Cats back in action this weekend.

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern softball team split a doubleheader with Loyola Thursday at Anderson Field. NU took game one, 2-1, before falling, 1-0, in the nightcap. The 'Cats are now 19-9 overall, 2-1 in the Big Ten.

Jaclyn DeBoard threw a complete game shutout in the first game, giving up five hits and striking out nine. She improves to 12-2 on the year and loweres her ERA to just 0.88. Jenn Shull provided the only offensive spark the 'Cats needed with a two-run single in the third.

In game two, Brooke Siebel and Jenni Beseres combined to give up just one unearned run on six hits, but it stood up as Loyola gained a split of the doubleheader.

Northwestern is back in action this Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5, when they host the Indiana Hoosiers at Anderson Field. They will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday followed by a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
