EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern softball team swept a doubleheader from the Wisconsin Badgers, 7-2 and 11-1, Tuesday at Anderson Field. Northwestern improves to 26-12 on the year, 9-4 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin drops to 14-21-1, 5-6 in the conference.

NU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game one, thanks in large part to two Badger errors and two wild pitches in the first inning. Lindsey Prezell was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, including her first home run of the season. Amanda Peterson and Mikie Chambers each added two hits. Jackie DeBoard threw four shutout innings of two-hit ball to pick up her 16th win.

The 'Cats kept the hits coming in game two, blasting three more homers. Prezell led off the second inning with her second long ball of the day and Kyla Hattabaugh hit a towering shot leading off the fifth to make it 7-0, NU. Brooke Siebel hit her second dinger of the year in the sixth and the 'Cats added three more in the seventh to cap the scoring. DeBoard got the win again, fanning eight and walking none in five scoreless innings. Prezell was 3-for-3 and Hattabaugh 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Siebel and Chambers each knocked in two runs.

NU plays a nonconference doubleheader this Thursday at Northeastern Illinois before heading to Ann Arbor this weekend for three games with Big Ten-leading Michigan.
