Jenna Grim Joins Northwestern as Volunteer Assistant

Loyola (Chicago) graduate, NPF veteran brings local, professional knowledge to 'Cats

Chicago native and National Professional Fastpitch veteran Jenna Grim spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for Northwestern.

While in Evanston, Grim worked extensively with the Wildcats' catchers, mentoring four-year starter Paige Tonz in the final two years of her career. Tonz's ability to work with NU's pitchers led to her calling her own games and catching four no-hitters in her time working with Grim.

A 2011 graduate of Loyola (Chicago) with a degree in communications, Grim was a four-year starter for Loyola (Chicago), twice earning All-Horizon League honors. She finished second on the school's all-time home run list and fifth on its RBI list. As a Rambler, Grim was a pain to the Wildcats, collecting five hits and two home runs during her junior and senior seasons.

Grim served as the Ramblers' volunteer assistant for the 2012 season and has worked as a private instructor in hitting, catching and strength and conditioning. Grim also has been a clinician at multiple camps throughout the Chicagoland area and coached 16U travel softball with the Beecher Ladycats. She both played under and coached alongside four-time All-Big Ten Northwestern graduate Nicole Pauly, who served a Rambler graduate assistant in 2011-12.

Following graduation, Grim won an open tryout to join the Chicago Bandits of National Professional Fastpitch. After winning the 2011 NPF World Championship with the club, she has continued to re-sign with the club, working with several outstanding pitchers including National Team member Monica Abbott. The 2014 season marks Grim's fourth with the club.
