2013 NSCAA University Division Women’s Scholar All-North/Central Region
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Three members of the Northwestern women’s soccer team were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their academic success. Junior defender Jackie Alyinovich, junior forward Katie Landgrebe and senior midfielder Julie Sierks each made the 2013 NSCAA University Division Women’s Scholar All-North/Central Region team.
A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Alyinovich was named to the Scholar All-North/Central Region Third Team. The Human Communication Sciences major played every minute of the 2013 season on the NU defense, helping the team record four shutouts.
Landgrebe and Sierks both received honorable mention accolades. Landgrebe, a journalism major, and Sierks, who will graduate Northwestern with a degree in industrial engineering, tied for the team lead in goals with three each. Landgrebe was second on the team with seven points while Sierks was close behind with a career-best six points. Landgrebe also is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree while Sierks received the honor three times.
Addtionally, the NSCAA also recently announced College Team Academic Award Winners for 2012-13.
NU head coach Michael Moynihan's
squad was one of 600 women’s teams to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
For the first time in school history, Northwestern's fall student-athletes cracked the 100-award mark by earning a conference-best 104 Academic All-Big Ten honors across six sports. The NU women's soccer team accounted for 18 of those honors.
