EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior forward Kate Allen (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) has been selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as a 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District honoree. Allen is one of three forwards on the Second Team for District 5 as this distinction annually recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Allen has been a key contributor on the field for Northwestern during her four seasons with the program. She has led the team in scoring in each year with the Wildcats and ranks amongst the top four in program history for career goals (21) and career points (52). A team captain for the 2013 season, Allen has played all 74 matches over the last four years, starting 73. She will make her final appearance as a Wildcat this Saturday when Northwestern wraps up the 2013 regular season at Wisconsin.
Allen also has stood out in the classroom, achieving Academic All-Big Ten distinction twice. She will graduate Northwestern with a degree in communication studies, along with a minor in business institutions.
This is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor for a Wildcat women's soccer player since Laura Janowitsch was recognized in 2008.
