EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern women’s soccer team will play a nine-game spring schedule, including three contests at Lakeside Field. The spring season begins Sunday, April 6 in Champaign, Ill., and wraps up with the team’s Alumni Game on Saturday, May 3 at Lakeside Field.
The Wildcats will receive a tough test early with three games against 2013 NCAA Tournament teams on April 6 in Champaign, Ill. The day begins with a match against Kentucky, who advanced to the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament and fell to eventual national champion, UCLA. The day continues with a game against Marquette and wraps up against Big Ten foe Illinois.
NU’s first game at Lakeside Field takes place Friday, April 11 against crosstown rival Loyola. The Wildcats then make the quick trip across state lines to take on UW-Milwaukee, another 2013 NCAA Tournament Team, and UW-Green Bay on Sunday, April 13 in Milwaukee. That day will be a homecoming for Northwestern head coach Michael Moynihan and assistant coach David Nikolic who both spent more than 15 years together on the coaching staff at UW-Milwaukee.
Two more NCAA Tournament teams await the Wildcats as Northwestern returns to Lakeside Field on Friday, April 25 to face DePaul and then that same weekend travels to Normal, Ill., for a match against Illinois State. The spring slate wraps up Saturday, May 3 with the Alumni Game at Lakeside Field.
