MADISON, Wis. -- Northwestern wrapped up the 2013 season Saturday afternoon, playing on the road at Wisconsin. The Wildcats could not overcome 22 shot attempts and 13 corners by the Badgers, falling 3-0.
Margo McGinty recorded a game-high three shots on goal, but the 'Cats could not get the ball past Badgers goalkeeper Genevieve Richard.
With Wisconsin leading 2-0 in the game's 80th minute, the Badgers' McKenna Meuer secured the win when she headed a ball into the net off a corner kick from from Rose Lavelle.
Lindsey Holmes got Wisconsin (10-6-2, 5-5-1) on the board early. In the game's 13th minute, Holmes dribbled into the box and hit a high shot into the back of the net from the left side to score her first goal of the season.
The Badgers extended their lead to 2-0 after 33 minutes when Cara Walls registered her ninth goal of the year, hitting a high shot into the net.
Wisconsin outshot Northwestern (3-14-2, B1G 1-9-0) 22-9 and attempted 13 corner kicks.
The Wildcats utilized three different keepers Saturday as freshman Jenna Hascher started and made her first appearance since the OSU match on Oct. 20. Junior Ali Herman also saw time in net along with senior Sam Hatfield, who played her final game as a Wildcat.
Saturday's match was the final one for the Northwestern senior class. One of them, Julie Sierks had two shots while Kate Allen had one attempt in the match as both started. Fellow seniors Nicole Jewell and Bo Podkopacz also started Saturday while Natalie Lagunas played 33 minutes off the bench and Hatfield played the final six minutes in net.
