COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Northwestern took on Ohio State at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Sunday afternoon. Northwestern freshman forward Addie Steiner recorded her second goal of the season but the Buckeyes took the 6-1 victory.

OSU freshman Nichelle Prince gave the Buckeyes the 2-0 lead before halftime and scored another at the 64:11 mark to complete the hat trick.

The Wildcats responded shortly after Prince’s third goal as Steiner found the back of the net at the 68:17 mark. Junior forward Katie Landgrebe, an Ohio native, sent a cross to Steiner, who was on the break, and she finished from inside the 18 to put the Wildcats on the board. Just before the goal, the Wildcats had another quality scoring chance as Steiner was fouled just outside the box, setting up a free kick. Senior forward Kate Allen took the kick and OSU keeper Jillian McVicker pushed the ball just over the bar, giving Northwestern one of its five corner kick opportunities.

Steiner’s goal would be the lone score of the match for the Wildcats. On OSU’s fourth goal of the game, NU freshman goalkeeper Jenna Hascher appeared to save Alexis Degler’s shot but as Hascher came down, she collided with Degler inside the net and OSU was awarded the goal. Hascher exited the match after the collision and senior goalkeeper Sam Hatfield subbed in for her first appearance of the season.

OSU finished with the 22-13 advantage in shots and 12-5 clip in shots on goal. Allen had a team-high five shots while Steiner contributed three more looks. Northwestern won the corner kick battle at 5-4.

NU returns to Lakeside Field next weekend to play its final two home matches of the 2013 season. The Wildcats welcome Michigan State on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and host Michigan for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
