EVANSTON, Ill. -- Two-time defending NCAA champion Northwestern officially begins its quest for an eighth national title when it hosts the first and second rounds of the 2013 NCAA Championship at Lakeside Field this weekend.
Details on this weekend's postseason competition in Evanston can be found below:
Northwestern, the tournament's No. 2 seed, is one of eight on-campus sites across the country hosting first-round action, with Stanford and Notre Dame doing battle at 7 p.m. CT Friday at Lakeside Field for the right to take on the Wildcats in the second round. Tickets to the game may be purchased at the Lakeside Field ticket booth on gameday for $8 (adults), $5 (senior citizens, students and youth) and $1 for infant tickets. No tickets will be sold in advance of Friday.
On Sunday, the Wildcats will face the winner of Friday evening's contest at 1 p.m. CT at Lakeside Field, where Northwestern is undefeated (17-0) in NCAA Tournament play during Kelly Amonte Hiller's
head coaching tenure. Again, admission to the game is set at $8 (adults), $5 (senior citizens, students and youth) and $1 for infant seats.
On Tuesday, Northwestern Athletics announced that all Northwestern students will be admitted to Sunday's second-round game at no charge, courtesy of Amonte Hiller. Students should present a valid WildCard upon arrival at Lakeside Field to gain free admission.
Live streaming video of both games this weekend will be available for free on Northwestern's digital platforms. Friday night's neutral site contest between Notre Dame and Stanford will stream live on NUsports.com, while NU's second-round contest will be carried via the Big Ten Digital Network, also at no charge.
