EVANSTON, Ill. -- Shannon Smith has been named the ALC Offensive Player of the Week after leading Northwestern to consecutive victories over top-20 opponents this past weekend. The junior broke loose for 11 goals and three assists in the two wins, including a career-high tying seven in the 'Cats 12-11 victory over seventh-ranked Stanford on Sunday.

Despite her seven goals -- all of the unassisted variety -- Smith's biggest play of the game came off a pass rather than a shot. With less than 30 seconds remaining and the score tied at 11, Smith found a cutting Alex Frank from behind the cage for the go-ahead goal, lifting NU past the Cardinal.

On Friday against Ohio State, Smith finished with four goals and two assists to pace Northwestern in a 14-11 victory.

After another big week, the NCAA's points leader (92) now sits sixth on the Wildcats' career assists list and is ninth in career goals.

Northwestern faces yet another nationally ranked foe this Saturday, heading to Charlottesville to take on Virginia at 11 a.m. CT. The game is NU's regular-season finale.
