Ann Elliott Elevated to Associate Head Coach

Former Wildcat defender is in fourth year on Northwestern staff

Ann Elliott left Northwestern to become the head coach at the University of Colorado following NU's 2012 championship season.

A three-time national champion as a player at Northwestern, Ann Elliott was elevated to the position of associate head coach prior to the 2012 season after three years as an assistant to Kelly Amonte Hiller. As a player and coach at NU, Elliott has been on the sidelines for six NCAA title games and been a part of five national championship-winning squads.

She is the first Northwestern lacrosse coach to hold the position of associate head coach since Kelly Amonte Hiller took over the program.

Elliott is primarily responsible for coordinating the Northwestern defense, a unit that in 2011 limited opponents to fewer than 10 goals in five of six postseason games en route to a national championship. That included holding top-seeded Maryland, the nation's fourth-ranked offense, to just seven goals in an 8-7 NU victory in the national title game. For the year, Northwestern posted an 8.57 goals against average, the eighth-best clip in the country.

During her first season on staff in 2009, Elliott was a key factor in leading Northwestern to the second-ranked defense in the country, allowing just 6.87 goals per game. The Wildcats' defensive unit continued to caused havoc for their opponents, causing 188 turnovers and holding 18 of its 23 opponents to less than 10 goals.

Since graduating from Northwestern in 2007, Elliott has served as the head coach of the Wildcat Elite Club and the Wildcat Developmental Team for Amonte Sports. She also spent one season as an assistant coach for New Trier High School, helping the Trevians to the 2008 state championship.

Elliott has been actively involved in Amonte Sports since her playing days at Northwestern, serving as a camp counselor as well as heading the development of New Wave lacrosse clinics for Amonte Sports and, organizing youth and high school clinics across the country. A radio film and television graduate from NU, Elliott also has done extensive work in video production for Amonte Sports.

A four-time letterwinner at Northwestern, Elliott was a key member of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 national championship teams, earning third-team All-American honors as a senior. The Wildcats' team captain in 2007, Elliott finished her NU career with 44 caused turnovers and scooped up 101 ground balls. She also notched 14 goals and added an assist during her Wildcat career, and was named Academic All-Big Ten three times.

    Elliott resides in Chicago.
