EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Emily Fletcher announced today the signing of Kacie Komoto (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou HS) to a National Letter of Intent. Komoto will join the Wildcats for the 2013-14 season.

"I am thrilled to have Kacie joining our Wildcat Golf Program next fall," Fletcher said. "She is a great fit for Northwestern both academically and athletically and I am confident that she will make an immediate impact on our program. Kacie's work ethic gives me reason to believe that her best golf is still ahead of her."

Kacie is the reigning Antigua National High School Champion and was the Hawaii Girl's Golf State Champion in 2011.  She is coming off a strong year, which included four top-10 finishes, where she qualified for the 2012 U.S Women's Amateur by winning her qualifier with a round of 68. She is currently ranked 27th in her class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Komoto joins a Wildcat program that has qualified for NCAA's the last three seasons under Fletcher. This year's squad had a strong fall campaign, placing in the top five in three tournaments, including a third-place finish at the Northwestern-hosted 2012 Windy City Collegiate Classic. Northwestern also had a stellar showing at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., shattering the program record for 18 holes. The Wildcats posted a 4-under 284 in the final round, breaking the previous record of 286 (2011 Big Ten Championships) by two strokes.

The Wildcats resume competition Feb. 10-12, playing at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, P.R. This is the first of four spring tournaments before the 2013 Big Ten Championships take place April 26-28 in French Lick, Ind.
