    Wildcats Travel to Wilmington, N.C., For Seventh-Annual Landfall Tradition

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern continues the fall portion of its 2008-09 schedule in Wilmington, N.C., competing in the seventh-annual Landfall Tradition at the Jack Nicklaus Course/Country Club of Landfall Friday through Sunday. The Wildcats are one of 12 teams in the competitive field and look to bounce back from its 13th-place finish at the Lady Northern last weekend.

    Beginning in 2002, the Landfall Tradition has established a reputation as one of the top east coast tournaments. Hosted by UNC-Wilmington, the course will be a par-72, 6,117 yard layout, and will be a 54-hole tournament with spread out over three days. NU will go head-to-head with an extremely competitive field, including four teams ranked in the top-25 in the Golfweek Sagarin rankings. North Carolina enters the weekend at No. 10, followed by defending champion Wake Forest at No. 11, with Notre Dame (No. 24) and Florida (No. 25) also posing a threat. Tulsa (No. 29), North Carolina State (No. 31), Ohio State (No. 35), Michigan (No. 52), East Carolina (No. 53), UNC-Wilmington (No. 67) and UNC-Greensboro (No. 71) round out the field.

    The Wildcats are coming off a 13th-place finish at the Lady Northern in West Lafayette, Ind., this past weekend, and looks to place in the top 10 for the second time this season. Sophomore Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) leads the squad in scoring average through the first three tournaments at 77.56, followed closely by sophomore Kelsey Lindenschmidt's (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) 78.00 and senior Jennifer Hong's (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) 78.67. Freshmen Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) and Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) will round out the scorecard for the Wildcats.



    First round action gets underway Friday, Oct. 24, at 8:12 a.m., with the same starting time for the second round on Saturday, Oct. 25. The final 18 holes get underway at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament at
