EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern remains in the Chicagoland area, hosting its second tournament in as many weeks. The Wildcats are hosting the 2010 Lady Northern Invitational at the Lake Shore Country Club in Glencoe on Monday, Oct. 11 and Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The Lady Northern serves as the warm-up for the Big Ten Championships in the spring, giving competitors a first-hand look at the course layout. 10 of the 11 schools competing in the Big Ten Championships on April 22-24 will compete, along with Iowa State and Texas Tech, who both participated in the Windy City Collegiate Classic on October 4th and 5th.

The 54-hole tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning, with the second round scheduled to get underway at approximately 1 p.m. Monday afternoon. Tuesday's final round commences at 7:30 a.m. as scores from the opening 36 holes will determine tee times from either the first or 10th hole.

Northwestern, ranked 48th in this week's Golfweek Sagarin ratings, is one of five top-50 teams competing in the Lady Northern, highlighted by a pair of top-25 squads in Purdue (No. 6), which captured last season's Lady Northern, and Ohio State (No. 21). Iowa State (No. 32) and Minnesota (No. 39) also are among the top-50 teams in the 12-team field.

The Wildcats are coming off a sixth-place finish at the Windy City Collegiate, which included a sixth-place finish by Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) in her second top-10 finish of the year. Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) also placed among the top 20 for Northwestern, checking in at 17th for her second top-20 finish of the 2010 fall season.

In last season's 2009 Lady Northern in Madison, Wis., Northwestern placed fourth among the 15-team field. Three Wildcats finished among the top-20, led by Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) at 11th with Weaver placing 16th and Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) checking in at 18th.

Admission to the Windy City Collegiate Classic is free both days as fans are welcome to head to the course and cheer on the Wildcats. Live scoring of the tournament is also available at Golfstat.com.
