    Komoto Wins U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier in Honolulu

    HONOLULU – Northwestern incoming freshman Kacie Komoto (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) won her U.S. Women’s Amateur Qualifier on July 8. Playing in her hometown at the Honolulu Country Club, Komoto had the best score of the group of five qualifiers in the field, carding a 70.
     
    Komoto has now qualified for the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, which takes place Aug. 5-11 at The Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. This will be her second time competing at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship as she won her qualifier in 2012 with a round of 68.
     
    Komoto had an illustrious career at Punahou High School in Honolulu. She capped her senior season with her second Hawaii Girl’s Golf State Title and also was the Antigua National High School Champion in 2011. When Komoto signed an NLI to play at Northwestern in November, Junior Golf Scoreboard ranked her No. 27 in her class.
