U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier Results
HOMEWOOD, Ill. -- Northwestern rising senior Hana Lee tied for first at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Qualifier on Monday, July 7 at the Ravisloe Country Club. Lee carded a 1-under 69 on the par-70, 6,117-yard course to share medalist honors with Rebecca Klongland.
With her top-seven finish, Lee now advances to the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, which takes place in August in Glen Cove, N.Y. During Monday’s qualifier, Lee recorded three birdies to offset two bogeys and registered pars the rest of the way to finish the round under par and tie for first.
The Hacienda Heights, Calif., native led Northwestern in scoring average during the 2013-14 campaign with a single-season program record of 74.09. She also registered four top-10 finishes, including medalist honors during the stroke play portion of the Liz Murphey Collegiate with a 6-under 66, which tied another program record.
Fellow Wildcat Kaitlin Park (Tustin, Calif./Beckman) will serve as the second alternate for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship as she tied for eighth in the qualifier. The top seven individuals from the qualifier advance and Park will be the second alternate after first alternate Brooke Ferrell, as both scored a 3-over 73 on Monday to tie for eighth. Park, who will be a junior next season, ranked second on the team just behind Lee in scoring average with a 74.84 during the 2013-14 campaign.
(Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) also competed at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Qualifier at the Ravisloe Country Club. The rising senior scored a 78 to tie for 36th.
The 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship will be played on the par-70, 6,297-yard Nassau Country Club Course in Glen Cove, N.Y. from Aug. 4-10. More information on this year’s tournament can be found here.
