EVANSTON, Ill. -- Before the Northwestern women's golf team heads out onto the course for one final time this season at the 2014 NCAA Championships, get to know the Wildcats that will be playing in the finals.

Sophomore Kaitlin Park ranks second on the team in scoring average this year at 74.35. The Tustin, Calif., native has two top-10 placements, including a runner-up finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational, and a team-high seven top-20 showings. She was named First Team All-Big Ten each of her two years with the Wildcats and was the 2013 Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

How would you describe this year's NU women's golf team?
“This year's team is really a fun and talented bunch. They make me laugh all of the time, yet they know how to get work done on and off the golf course. I think that as a team, we have a great chemistry, and individually have the potential to shoot a lot of great scores.”

What does it mean to you to play in the 2014 NCAA Championships?
“The NCAA Championship only comes around once a year and our team fought hard to be here in Tulsa. As a result, I couldn't be more proud of my team and be more honored to be playing for Northwestern a second time at a National Championship. ”

What has been your favorite golf-related memory of the 2013-14 season so far?
“I would have to say my favorite golf-related memory would be making history and breaking a team record with this team of talented individuals. ”

What has been your favorite off the course memory with the team during your NU career?
“My Favorite off the course memory is when we did this team bonding event my freshman year in Downtown Chicago. The team was split into two groups and we did a scavenger hunt of Chicago. I got to explore downtown Chicago for the first time and I had a great time with my teammates.”

What is your favorite part about being a member of the Northwestern women's golf team?
“I absolutely love the people I'm surrounded with by being a member of Northwestern's Golf Team. Second to that, being apart of Northwestern's golf team means having access to great indoor/outdoor practice facilities and the opportunity to experience one of the top universities in the nation.”

What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
“Norris! It's definitely my place to go because I love the food there, there's a Dunkin Donuts and a Starbucks, and its a good study spot. Also I love Norris for the ice skating in the winter to the Doggy Therapy right before Finals.”

What is your favorite place to visit in the city of Chicago or Evanston and why?
“I have always had an appreciation for art and I engage in drawing here and there, so I would have to say I love visiting the SAIC Art Museum in Chicago. It is amazing and if you haven't visited before I would highly recommend it! ”

What is the best piece of advice you have received from either head coach Emily Fletcher or assistant coach Beth Miller?
“Coach Emily and Coach Beth have given me numerous pieces of advice that I will cherish and remember after I graduate Northwestern, but if I had to choose one it would be when Coach Emily told me "You can't have a round of golf define who you are." I really appreciated this because it helped me love the game more and believe that there is no limit to improving my golf game and myself as a person. Thanks Em! Thanks Beth!”

    My favorite professional golfer is…
“My favorite golfer on the PGA Tour is obviously Luke Donald and my favorite golfer on the LPGA is Annika Sorenstam.”

If I could play 18 holes with anyone it would be…
”Jennifer Lawrence because she is so funny and I feel like we would have a great time.”

Northwestern is heading to the NCAA Championships for the third time in program history and second time in as many seasons. The 72-hole tournament begins Tuesday, May 20 in Tulsa and runs through Friday, May 23. The Wildcats will look to improve upon their top-15 finish a year ago and return four players from last year's squad that advanced to the NCAA Championships.
