EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a third-place showing at the spring-opening Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Northwestern heads south to play at the Hurricane Invitational, Monday, March 3-Wednesday, March 5 in Coral Gables, Fla. The 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-71, 6-092-yard Biltmore Golf Course.

Northwestern enters the Hurricane Invitational ranked No. 18 in the latest Golfstat.com rankings, making the Wildcats the highest-ranked team in the 17-team field. NU also is one of three Big Ten teams in the field along with Iowa and Michigan. Daytona State College enters the tournament as the top-ranked team in junior college.

Head coach Emily Fletcher will utilize a similar lineup in Florida that played in Puerto Rico. Junior Hana Lee, sophomores Kaitlin Park, Suchaya Tangkamolprasert and Elizabeth Szokol along with freshman Kacie Komoto are scheduled to make up NU’s starting five. Senior Devon Brown also will make the trip to Florida and will compete as an individual.

Northwestern had a strong start to the 2014 spring season as all five players finished within the top 30 to help the Wildcats finish third in Puerto Rico, the team’s best showing of the year so far. Komoto led the Wildcats with a 5-over 221 but the other four Wildcat starters all finished within a stroke of each other. Tangkamolprasert recorded a career-low for 18 holes, carding a 3-under 69 in the second round.

Park currently leads the Wildcats in scoring average at 73.27 through five events. A few of her teammates are close behind as Lee is second at 74.13, Tangkamolprasert is third at 74.27 and Komoto ranks fourth on the team at 74.33.
