Challenge at Wolfdancer Final Results/Standings

AUSTIN, Texas -- Behind a personal-best 74 in the final round from freshman Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central), Northwestern holds on to a ninth-place finish at the second-annual Challenge at Wolfdancer. The Wildcats closed out the final round with a 24-over 312, earning their second-straight top-10 finish in the final tournament of the fall season.
Lederhausen came through in a big way over the final 36 holes of the Challenge, shooting a 3-over 75 in the second round, which was her personal best. She then topped it with a 2-over 74 over the final 18 holes to finish the tournament at 17-over 233 and in a tie for 20th-place, the first top-20 finish of her career. She edged out sophomore Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy), who shot a 4-over 76 in the final round, by three strokes, as Lindenschmidt tied for 27th-place with a 20-over 236.
Sophomore Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy), who began the day at the top of the Northwestern scorecard, put together a 3-over 75 in the second round, then followed it up with a 9-over 81 in the third to finish at 21-over 237. Sophomore Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) shot a 30-over 246, with freshman Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) finishing at 36-over 252.
After putting together a 323 through the first 18 holes, NU responded with a 315 and 312 for the final two rounds, defeating 10th-place Baylor by 10 strokes. The `Cats finished eight strokes back of Big Ten opponent Michigan, who finished the tournament in eighth-place.
In a competitive finish, Colorado held on for a one stroke victory over both Texas Tech and Texas State, shooting a 64-over 928 for the Challenge, while both the Red Raiders and Bobcats finished at 65-over 929. College of Charleston and Idaho both tied for fourth-place with a 67-over 931, with Iowa State and Nebraska rounding out the top seven.
The Challenge at Wolfdancer completes the fall portion of the Wildcats' 2008-09 schedule, as NU notched four top-10 finishes out of its five tournaments. Head coach Emily Fletcher's squad will now have some time off, as their next event will be at the Lady Puerto Rico in Rio Grande, P.R., Feb. 8-10, 2009.
