STANFORD, Calif. -- Northwestern wrapped up the third and final round of the Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Condoleeza Rice, on Sunday. The Wildcats finished in the top half of a highly-competitive field, finishing seventh amongst the 16 teams.

Northwestern, who is ranked No. 20 in the latest rankings, had three sub-300 rounds, with its best round of the tournament coming during Friday’s first round. The Wildcats posted a 7-over 291 on Sunday to finish at 17-over for the tournament (286-292-291=869). NU finished ahead of 21st-ranked Kentucky (+22) and had a sizeable lead on 11th-ranked Vanderbilt, who finished ninth (+25). No. 2 Southern California won the 16-team tournament at 21-under 831, five strokes ahead of top-ranked UCLA who came in second at 16-under. In total, there were seven top-20 teams competing at the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Kaitlin Park led the group of Wildcats as she tied for 20th. She carded a 3-over 74 on Sunday to finish at 2-over 215 for the tournament (71-70-74). Her score of 215 matches a career-low as she shot the same score at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championships a year ago.

Freshman Kacie Komoto finished two strokes behind Park and tied for 29th. After posting a career-low score of 69 during the first round, which was the low round of the tournament for the Wildcats, she scored a 2-over 73 on Sunday.

Junior Hana Lee and sophomore Elizabeth Szokol tied for 39th with a 7-over 220. Szokol had the best round of the day for Northwestern on Sunday, carding an even 71. Beginning on the first hole, Szokol closed out the front nine with back-to-back birdies and a par. She then had pars on the 10th and 11th holes and birdied 12 before a bogey on 13. Szokol bounced back with a birdie on 14 and four-straight pars to go 1-under on the back nine and finish even for the round.

Sophomore Suchaya Tangkamolprasert finished two strokes behind Szokol and Lee at 9-over 222 to tie for 44th. Senior Devon Brown competed as an individual and tied for 78th.

The Stanford Intercollegiate was Northwestern’s final event on the fall schedule. The Wildcats will return to the course on Jan. 25 for the team’s annual Alumni Match, will play a dual on Feb. 9 and then resume the spring tournament schedule Feb. 16-18 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
