GLENCOE, Ill. -- One day after shooting a 6-under 66 to set a program single-round record, sophomore Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) continued to rewrite the Northwestern history book. Weaver shot a 3-under 69 in round three, capturing the 2010 Lady Northern Invitational individual title with an 8-under 208. It marks the lowest 54-hole individual title in program history, helping lead the Wildcats to a second-place finish.

"It was textbook golf today for Lauren, and it was exciting to watch her today," said head coach Emily Fletcher. "She was so consistent and steady throughout the day, putting shots right where she needed to hit them. I'm so proud of her and our entire team. Everyone put together a solid outing and this was a big tournament for us as we look ahead."

Weaver's 208 was three strokes better than the previous program record of 211 put up by Liliana Alvarez (2007) and Ina Kim (2005) and seven shots lower than her 215 at last season's Dick McGuire Invitational. Weaver recorded 14 birdies over the two-day event, including four over the final round, resulting in Northwestern's first individual tournament champion since Liliana Alvarez won the 2007 Red Rocks Invitational.

As a team, the rest of the Wildcats seemed to feed off Weaver's momentum, combining to post a 1-over 289 over the final 18 holes, overcoming a six-shot deficit to surpass Ohio State and earn team runner-up honors. Northwestern closed out the 54-hole Lady Northern with an 11-over 875, the second-lowest 54-hole team total in the program's history. The Wildcats out shot the Buckeyes (19-over, 883) by 14 strokes on the day, finishing second only to Purdue (2-under, 858).

Each Wildcat put together impressive rounds on a beautiful sunny day at Lake Shore Country Club as every Northwestern competitor finished no worse than 37-over par on the afternoon. Freshman Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) recorded the second top-20 finish of her career, tying for 11th-place overall with a 3-over 219, the lowest score of her young career. Junior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) just missed notching a top-20 showing, finishing in a tie for 22nd overall with a 7-over 223. Lederhausen's 1-over 73 on the day, highlighted by birdies on the final two holes, ties her low round of the year.

Senior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) and sophomore Anne Ormson (Granger, Ind./St. Joseph's) also played key roles in the Wildcats' success with each recording their low round of the year. Lederhausen finished with a 2-over 74 en route to an 11-over, 227 finish, while Ormson's 1-over 73 set a career-best for her lowest round as a Wildcat.

The second-place finish at the Lady Northern should instill a great deal of confidence in Fletcher's Wildcats, as the Lake Shore Country Club will serve as the host course for the 2011 Big Ten Championships in April.

Northwestern looks to continue the momentum gained at the Lady Northern as it now prepares for the final tournament of the fall season. The Wildcats will participate in the 2010 Landfall Tradition in Greensboro, N.C., Oct. 22-24.
