    2012 Windy City Final Results Get Acrobat Reader

    GOLF, Ill. - Northwestern had the best round of the day out of the 15-team field at the 2012 Windy City Collegiate Classic, jumping from a tie for sixth to finishing the tournament in third. NU made the biggest leap of the day in the standings after posting a 292, three strokes better than any other team in the final 18 holes, to finish with a 54-hole total of 20-over 884 (298-294-292).

    It was a close race at the top as the Wildcats were just one stroke behind second-place finishers Washington (19-over 883) and Arizona won the fifth edition of the Windy City Classic with a 15-over 879. TCU's April McCoy took medalist honors finishing at 2-under 214.

    Two Wildcats finished in the top 10 as sophomore Nicole Zhang led the way, tying for fourth and sophomore Hana Lee posted her second top-10 finish in as many tournaments, tying for 10th.

    2012 Windy City Classic Highlights

    Zhang began the final 18 at hole No. 1 and started with a par before recording her lone bogey of the round on hole No. 2. She finished the front nine at 1-over, posting pars on the remaining seven holes. On the back nine, Zhang birdied holes No. 12, 15 and 17 to finish at 3-under for an 18-hole score of 2-under 70. The Calgary, Alberta native scored a 76 and 70 in the first two rounds to finish at an even 216 for the tournament.

    Lee tied a career-low, scoring a 3-over 219. She posted a 2-over 74 in the final round on Monday to solidify her place in the top 10. Yesterday, Lee shot a 1-under 71 in the first 18 holes, which also tied a career-low, and a 2-over 74. She finished the tournament with eight birdies, including five in the first round.

    Junior Devon Brown had her best round of the tournament on Monday, scoring an even 72. She had a steady final 18 holes, finishing at 1-under on the front nine, with a birdie on hole No. 7, and bogeyed on No. 11 to finish 1-over on the back nine. Brown improved her score in each round, finishing in a tie for 30th at 10-over 226 (80-74-72).

    Senior Anne Ormson placed the highest of the seven individuals competing at the tournament, tying for 38th. She also had her best round of the tournament Monday, shooting a 2-over 74 for a three-round total of 12-over 228.

    Senior Lauren Weaver and freshman Kaitlin Park rounded out the Northwestern starting five and both shot a 14-over 230 to tie for 43rd. Weaver posted a 6-over 78 on Monday while Park shot a 4-over 76.

    Freshman Suchaya Tangkamolprasert, sophomore Katie Wooliver and senior Mei Liu also competed as individuals for the Wildcats. Tangkamolprasert scored a 5-over 77 on Monday to finish at 21-over 237 (67th place), Wooliver shot an 8-over 80 on the final 18 (25-over 241, 70th) and Liu posted a 12-over 84 (37-over 253, t-80th).

    After hosting a successful 2012 Windy City Collegiate Classic, the Wildcats continue their fall season at the Mercedes Benz Women's Championship in Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 12-14.
