UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Northwestern women's golf team shot a total score of 606 on the first day of action at the Lady Northern Invitational and is in fourth place at +30 through 36 holes.

Kent State sits in first place at +9, while Michigan State is just one shot off the lead. Indiana is third, four shots in front of the Wildcats at +26.

Junior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) shot a three-over 147 on the day to place her fifth overall for NU. Senior Brittany Johnston (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and freshman Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) are tied for 13th place after shooting identical scores of eight-over 152. Completing the Northwestern scorers was senior Katie Trachok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) who posted a total of 155 (+11) to place her tied for 29th.

Kent State's Kira Meixner shot an impressive 139 (-5) to take a five-shot lead into the final day of competition.

The Lady Northern concludes with a final 18 holes of play Sunday.
