ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Northwestern played the first 36 holes of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Friday in Albuquerque, N.M. Played on the par-73, 6,192-yard UNM Championship Course, Northwestern is tied for fourth in the 16-team field.
The Wildcats carded a 5-over 589 after 36 holes and are tied with Iowa State. NU is just a stroke behind third-place UC Davis while Oregon is one-over and sits in second. Pepperdine leads the field at 3-under 581.
Freshman Kacie Komoto leads NU after the first two rounds at 1-under 145 and is tied for sixth. She carded a 1-over 74 in the first round and improved her score three strokes in the second at 2-under 71 for her first career round under par. Komoto scored her first career eagle with the Wildcats, carding a three on the 466-yard, par-5 ninth hole.
