    EAST LANSING, Mich. – Northwestern concluded its first tournament of the season Sunday in East Lansing, finishing fourth at the 30th Annual Mary Fossum Invitational. Sophomore Kaitlin Park led the NU contingent, tying for second with her score of 4-over 220. It was the best placement of Park’s career as her previous best finish was a tie for fifth at last year’s Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
     
    Park opened the tournament with a 1-over 73, posted a 2-over 74 in the second round and finished strong on Sunday with a 1-over 73. Her final round included four birdies and 10 pars.
     
    A pair of Wildcats finished in a tie for 24th as junior Hana Lee and sophomore Suchaya Tangkamolprasert posted a 14-over 230. Both players shot a 6-over 78 during Sunday’s final round.
     
    Junior Elizabeth Szokol was one stroke behind the NU duo, finishing with a 15-over 231 to tie for 30th. Freshman Kacie Komoto played in her first tournament as a Wildcat and had her best round on Sunday, scoring a 2-over 74. Beginning on the sixth hole, she carded four straight pars and wrapped up the round with three pars and two birdies. Komoto tied for 41st in her Wildcat debut.
     
    Junior Katie Wooliver competed as an individual and tied for 72nd.
     
    As a team, Northwestern posted scores if 302-303-302 to finish fourth, just one stroke behind third-place Notre Dame. Michigan State won the tournament, played on the Spartans’ home course in East Lansing.
     
    The Wildcats are back in action next weekend, competing at the Dick McGuire Invitational, Friday, Sept. 20-Saturday, Sept. 21 in Albuquerque, N.M.
