    SUNCADIA, Wash. -- Northwestern made a large jump in the team standings Friday during the second round of the NCAA West Regional. Entering the day tied for 10th, the Wildcats had one of the lower rounds of the day out of the 24 team field to move into fifth after 36 holes. NU made the biggest leap in the team standings out of the 24-team field after scoring an 8-over 296 on Friday.

    Northwestern has a two-round total of 22-over 598, four strokes ahead of sixth-place Michigan State (+26) and 12 behind fourth-place Oklahoma (+10). USC and Arizona State are tied for first at 2-over while Washington is in third at 4-over.

    Sophomore Suchaya Tangkamolprasert continues to lead the Wildcats as she is tied for sixth at an even 144 after scoring a 1-over 73 on Friday. She had another steady scorecard on Friday as she was 2-under through the back nine with birdies on 12 and 18. She then added on seven pars on the front nine to finish out the round.

    Fellow sophomore Elizabeth Szokol had a solid second round, cutting seven strokes off of her first-round score. She finished Friday at an even 72 with three birdies to counter three bogeys with pars the rest of the way. Szokol began the day tied for 80th and moved into a tie for 30th after Friday's round. She is at 7-over 151 through 36 holes.

    Junior Hana Lee matched her score from Thursday, carding another 4-over 76 and is tied for 38th while sophomore Kaitlin Park cut three strokes off her first round score with a 3-over 75 on Friday. Park is tied for 45th in the individual standings.

    Freshman Kacie Komoto is tied for 57 after scoring a 5-over 77 on Friday. She had a steady back nine with eight pars and one bogey and finished up the round with six more pars.

    Northwestern looks to remain in the top eight of the 24-team field when the third and final round of the NCAA West Regional wraps up Saturday. The top eight teams in each regional advance to the 2014 NCAA Championships.
