    COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Northwestern concluded the final round of the 2010 NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional right where it began, posting a 15th-place finish at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind. The Wildcats shot a 26-over 314, its best round of the tournament, finishing with a combined 93-over 957.

    Sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) finished atop the Northwestern scorecard in her first trip to the regionals, shooting a 5-over 77 over the final 18 holes and wrapping up the 54-hole tournament with a 21-over 237 and in a tie for 38th-place in the individual standings. Freshman Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) had the low round of the day for Northwestern, posting a 4-over 76 and finishing the regional one shot back of Lederhausen with a 22-over 238.

    Junior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) placed third among Wildcat competitors with a 24-over 240 after recording a 10-over 82 in the final round. Junior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) and sophomore Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) rounded out the Northwestern scorecard, shooting a 28-over 244 and a 33-over 249 respectively.

    Teeing off among the afternoon wave of competitors, the Wildcats were able to hold off a handful of teams below them in the standings. Northwestern finished 11 strokes ahead of Baylor (104-over 968) and 13 shots better than Notre Dame (106-over 970), and was only a shot behind 14th-place Louisville (92-over 956).

    Southern California captured the regional championship by posting a 43-over 907, besting Pac-10 rival Arizona State (51-over 915) by eight shots. Big Ten champion Purdue (67-over 931) finished third, with New Mexico (72-over 936) and Oklahoma State (73-over 937) rounding out the top-five. Florida State, Oregon and Kent State also finished among the top-eight, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships in Wilmington, N.C., May 18 - 21.

    Northwestern closes out the 2009-10 campaign with a handful of highlights, capped by its appearance in the Central Regional. The Wildcats posted a team-best 15 sub-300 rounds and finished among the top-10 in eight of their 12 events. Weaver was also named a second team All-Big Ten selection, the first for Northwestern since 2007.
