    FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Northwestern wrapped up competition at the 2012 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships Sunday at the Donald Ross Course in French Lick, Ind. Playing in her first Big Ten championship, freshman Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) led the NU group of six, and junior Anne Ormson (Granger, Ind./St. Joseph’s) had a career-low 54-hole score and career-best finish as both placed among the top-20 competitors.
    Lee had her third top-20 finish of the season as she tied for 18th, shooting a 12-over 228 (75-75-78). Ormson finished one stroke behind Lee at 13-over 229 (77-76-76), tying for 20th, for the first top-20 finish of her NU career (previous best was 33rd at 2010 Windy City Collegiate Classic). Playing in just her fifth event of the season, and second as a non-individual, Ormson’s score of 229 was a career-low. The junior shattered her previous best of 233, set at the 2010 Windy City Collegiate Classic, by four strokes. Ormson led the NU squad with 34 pars, which tied for the ninth-highest total at the tournament. Lee had 33 holes on par and a team-leading six birdies, including three in the first round.
    Freshman Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) was the third-highest placer for NU as she took 27th. Mai also had 33 pars and finished two strokes behind Ormson, shooting a 15-over 231 (77-76-78).
    Sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) improved her score every round. Beginning at 7-over 79, Brown went 6-over 78 in the second round and posted her best round of the tournament in the third and final 18 holes at 3-over 75. Brown tied for 28th at 16-over 232.
    Junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) finished at 18-over 234 (78-79-77), tying for 32nd.
    Senior Alex Lederhausen played in her final Big Ten championship and finished 61st at 27-over 243 (83-77-83).
    As a team, Northwestern took seventh out of the 12-team field, scoring a 53-over 917 (307-304-306). The ’Cats narrowly edged eighth-place Minnesota, who was one stroke behind at 54-over 918 (318-301-299). Michigan State won its second-consecutive conference title (885, +21) while Purdue’s Laura Gonzalez took home medalist honors, finishing at an even-par 216.
