COLUMBUS, Ohio – Northwestern junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) made history once again, scoring the fourth hole-in-one in school history Saturday at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. Weaver’s ace was the first for Northwestern since Rebecca Lederhausen scored a hole-in-one at the Central District Invitational in February of 2008.

Beginning the second round on the par-three, 146-yard hole No. 8, Weaver shot an ace to get the round off to a strong start. She birded on the ninth hole and added birdies on holes 12 and four to finish the second round an even 72. She finished the first round in a tie for 29th (9-over 81) but vaulted to a tie for seventh with a 9-over 153 after the first 36 holes (81-72).

Weaver’s ace wasn’t the only highlight of the day for Northwestern as the ’Cats are currently tied for second in the 11-team field that features eight Big Ten squads. NU has a two-round total of 37-over 613 (313-300), which ties the team with Michigan State (312-301) for second. The host team, Ohio State, leads the field at 29-over 605 (308-297).

Despite Weaver’s ace, two other Wildcats led the squad and are currently tied for fifth. Sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) opened with a 7-over 79 but bounced back with three birdies in the second round to shoot a 1-over 73. Brown’s score of 8-over 152 is the same as freshman Hana Lee’s (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson). Lee shot a 4-over 76 in each round with three birdies in the second round.

Freshman Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) is tied for 21st after two rounds with a 13-over 157 (78-79) while junior Anne Ormson (Granger, Ind./St. Joseph’s) sits in a tie for 31st, shooting a 15-over 159 (80-79). Senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) rounded out the NU competitors in the 6-count-4 tournament in a tie for 38th at 17-over 161 (80-81).

The third and final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. CT.
