HALF MOON BAY, Calif. -- Northwestern bounced back from Monday's disappointing second round with a strong 6-over 294 on Tuesday, which lifted the Wildcats into a fifth-place tie with 28th-ranked Colorado at the inaugural Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. The first-year event, co-hosted by UC Davis and Oregon, was held at the majestic Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links, located 45 minutes south of San Francisco along the Pacific Ocean coastline.

NU sophomore Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows), who fired a 3-under 69 in Monday's first round, finished in a fourth-place tie with a 6-over 222 (69-76-77). Weaver's 5-over 77 on Tuesday was actually the highest score for a Wildcat golfer, which meant her mark did not count toward the Wildcats' team round of 294. After opening the tourney with five birdies in her first round, Weaver had just one birdie in her final two rounds -- a birdie on today's par-5 No. 4 hole.

Still, Weaver finishes with her fifth top-10 showing this season. Her 69 on Monday was her third sub-70 round of the season.

As a team, only tournament champion Oregon had a better team round than the Wildcats on Tuesday. The Ducks shot a 2-over 290 to finish 27-over (304-297-290=891), one stroke ahead of 27th-ranked Texas A&M. The 39th-ranked Wildcats finished 14 strokes behind Oregon at 43-over (293-320-294=907). UC Davis, which also shot a 294 on Tuesday, tied for third with Long Beach State, each with a 41-over 905. Texas A&M's Katerina Ruzickova was the tournament medalist, finishing at 2-over (73-76-69=218).

While Weaver had a sub-par day, the other four Wildcats all turned in strong performances. Junior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) bounced back from a 10-over 82 in Monday's second round with an even-par 72. Today's round, which featured five birdies, equaled her low round of the year and marked her second even-par score of the season (she posted an even-par 73 in September's Dick McGuire Invitational). Her 72 helped her climb 17 spots on the player leaderboard as she finishes in a 26th-place tie at 13-over (75-82-72=229).

Alex's older sister, Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central), fired a season-low 73 today and placed 23rd with a 12-over 228 (74-81-73). Her 23rd-place finish bests her 32nd-place showing from October's Lady Northern Invitational. Her final round included two birdies and three bogeys.

Freshman Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) also carded a 1-over 73 on Tuesday and climbed 16 spots in the player standings to 41st. She finished at 17-over (78-82-73=233). Senior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) closed her final round with a 4-over 76 and placed 35th overall with a 16-over 232 (75-81-76). Lindenschmidt has notched her three best tournament performances in the Wildcats' last three events.

Northwestern's next event is the annual Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17. This event, which traditionally features several Big Ten foes, marks the Wildcats' final tuneup before they host the Big Ten Championships on April 22-24.
