AUSTIN, Texas -- With two of three rounds complete at the 26th Annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, Northwestern is in 16th place after shooting a 44-over 332 on Monday. The 38th-ranked Wildcats fired a 339 on Sunday. The tournament, which is being played at the challenging Hills Country Club, features some of the nation's top women's golf programs.
Junior Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) led Northwestern with a team-best 9-over 81 on Monday. She moved from 86th to 77th place (92-81=173) with her Monday effort.
Freshman Alice Kim (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood) still leads the NU contingent overall through 36 holes. She shot a 12-over 84 on Monday and is now in 41st place (80-84=164).
Junior Mary Ellen Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) is 54th (83-84=167). She also shot a 12-over 84 on Monday. Freshman Kelly Robb (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School) also is 23-over for the tournament (84-83=167) and in 54th place.
Senior Lauren Grzebien (Saunderstown, R.I./Narragansett) is 24-over (85-83=168) and in 60th place. Freshman Heather Scholten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian), three of six freshmen in the NU lineup, is in 87th place (93-87=180).
Texas, the host school, holds a one-stroke advantage over UNLV heading into Tuesday's final round, a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Vanderbilt's Chris Brady is leading the individual race with a 5-over 149. She is three strokes ahead of three players.
