PARRISH, Fla. -- Northwestern finished the final round at the 2011 Central District Invitational right where it started it, finishing sixth out of 15 teams with a 29-over 893. The Wildcats posted a 7-over 295 through Tuesday's final round, their fifth sub-300 outing of the season, and notched their fifth top-10 team finish of the 2010-11 season.

As had been the case for the entire tournament, Northwestern's competitors remained consistent through the final 18 holes. Sophomore Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) once again finished atop the Wildcat scorecard with a 1-over 73 in round three, giving her a 6-over 222 for the tournament and finishing in a tie for 17th in the individual standings.

But Weaver was joined in the top-20 by a pair of her teammates as senior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and junior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) both finished one stroke back of Weaver, compiling a 54-hole total of 7-over 223 and tying for 19th in the individual standings. Lindenschmidt matched her career-best with an even-par 72 over the final 18 holes and posted the fifth top-20 showing of her Wildcat career. Lederhausen shot a 2-over 74 over Tuesday's final round as she recorded her third top-20 showing of the season and her 10th as a Wildcat.

Freshman Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) just missed a top-20 showing as well, posting a 9-over 225 and finishing in a tie for 25th place in the individual standings. Senior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) had her best showing of the tournament Tuesday, posting a 4-over 76 to finish with an 18-over 234.

Northwestern began the day in sixth place and was able to maintain its position as a handful of teams had their best showing over the final 18 holes. The Wildcats finished five strokes back of fifth-place Michigan State and bested 25th-ranked Ohio State by two strokes. In all, Northwestern finished second out of the six Big Ten schools competing in the tournament and had a better finish than a pair of top-20 schools in 12th-ranked Arkansas (11th) and 20th-ranked Notre Dame (10th).

Iowa State used a blistering 5-under 283 in Tuesday's final round to leapfrog fourth-ranked LSU and capture the Central District Invitational title. The Cyclones finished with a 4-over 868 for the event, nine strokes better than the Tigers' 13-over 877. Texas A&M (17-over 881) and TCU (23-over 887) joined the host Spartans among the top-five.

Northwestern will now get a little bit of break from competition as the Wildcats' next event will be the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C., on March 25-27. The Bryan National marks the start of the homestretch for Northwestern, which will compete in three events in a four-week span before hosting the Big Ten Championships at Lake Shore Country Club April 22-24.
