    RIO GRANDE, P.R. – A trio of underclassmen currently lead the way for Northwestern in the team’s spring debut at the 11th Annual Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R. Freshman Kaitlin Park is tied for 12th after two rounds at 3-over while sophomore Hana Lee is one stroke behind in a tie for 14th. Freshman Suchaya Tangkamolprasert also sits in the top 25 at 7-over in a tie for 22nd after 36 holes.

    As a team, NU shot a 300 in each of the first two rounds and is in sixth place out of 15 teams at 24-over 600. Iowa State is just two strokes ahead of NU in fifth while Texas Tech and TCU are tied for third at 21-over 597.
     
    Park has five birdies through the first two rounds and opened the tournament with a 2-over 74. She shaved a stroke off of her score on Monday, to finish the second at 1-over 73 to post a two-round total of 3-over 147.
     
    Lee was consistent through the first two rounds, scoring a 2-over 74 in each, but had five birdies in round one alone, including four on the back nine. Lee has seven birdies through two rounds, which ties for second amongst the field.
     
    Tangkamolprasert opened competition shooting a 5-over 77 in the first round and improved her second-round score by three strokes, finishing day two at 2-over 74. She finished even on the back nine as her two birdies canceled out bogeys on the 11th and 12th holes.
     
    Junior Devon Brown, senior Lauren Weaver and freshman Elizabeth Szokol are also competing for the ’Cats. Brown shot a 3-over 75 in the first 18 holes and currently sits in a tie for 37th at 10-over 154. Weaver is tied for 73rd at 19-over 163.
     
    Szokol is making her tournament debut, competing as an individual. She finished the first round at 4-over 76, shooting pars for the entire back nine. Szokol is tied for 60th at 13-over 157.
     
    Northwestern wraps up competition at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday with the third and final round teeing off at 7:30 a.m. local time.
