2010 Lady Puerto Rico Classic Final Results

RIO GRANDE, P.R. -- Northwestern closed out the 2010 Lady Puerto Rico Classic with a final-round 16-over 304, moving up into a three-way tie for sixth-place with a 43-over 907 over the three-day tournament. The sixth-place finish gives the Wildcats their fifth top-10 team finish of the season as NU shaved 23 strokes of its ninth-place finish at last year's Lady Puerto Rico.

Entering the day tied with Texas Tech for seventh-place, Northwestern got a balanced scorecard from all five competitors as each finished below 80 over the final 36 holes. Scores were higher across the board for the final round and the Wildcats took advantage, capturing the sixth spot along with Florida State and Baylor. Texas Tech (44-over 907) finished a stroke back of the pack with Wisconsin (58-over 922) finishing a distant 10th.

Freshman Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) once again finished atop the Northwestern scorecard, placing 16th individually with a 6-over 222 (76-71-75). It is the sixth top-20 finish of the season for Weaver, who has placed no worse than 17th in her Wildcat career. Sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) just missed cracking the top-20, placing in a tie for 23rd with an 11-over 227 (72-79-76).

Junior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) was third on the Wildcat scorecard at 13-over 229 (81-72-76), finishing tied for 32nd while fellow junior Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) was two strokes back, finishing tied for 38th with a 15-over 231 (78-75-78).

Alabama captured the 2010 Lady Puerto Rico team title, finishing at 8-over 872 and held off a late surge by reigning champion Purdue (19-over 883), besting the Boilermakers by 11 shots. Oklahoma State (22-over 86), Georgia (24-over 888) and Kent State (33-over 897) rounded out the top-five while the Cowboys' Caroline Hedwall took home the individual medal, finishing with a 7-under 209.

Northwestern next takes to the links at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla., at the end of the month. The opening two rounds will get underway Monday, Feb. 22, with the final 18 holes taking place Tuesday, Feb. 23.
