EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Chelsea Armstrong and Nikki Parsley earned 2011 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-West Region First Team honors, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Monday.

It marks the first time since 1996, when Ellie Karvoski and Ashley McWilliams were selected, that two 'Cats earned first team honors, and only the sixth time in school history.

Armstrong received the first-team nod for the third-consecutive season after being named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row. The midfielder led the conference with 25 goals and 57 points on the season, and was fifth nationally for goals per game (1.14). A credit to her offensive prowess, Armstrong broke two long-time Northwestern records for career goals (73) and career points (171) in the middle of her junior campaign.

Only a sophomore, Parsley earns first-team honors after a stellar season playing forward for the Wildcats. She was second on the team behind Armstrong with 10 goals scored, accumulating a robust 21 points. Parsley was clutch down the stretch of the season on offense, and at one point had notched six goals in five games. The Delaware native was recognized for the second year in a row by the NFHCA, having earned a spot on last year's All-West Region Second Team.

Earlier this month, Northwestern received three All-Big Ten selections as Armstrong and Parsley earned first-team honors, while senior Regan Mooney garnered second-team accolades. Mooney, a crucial part of the offense this season, was also selected to play in the 2011 NFHCA Senior Game last weekend, the first 'Cat to do so since Courtney Plaster-Strange in 2009.
