EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern midfielder Dominique Masters (Canterbury, United Kingdom/The King's School) has been recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday.

It is the second such honor of her career. Masters also earned the award Sept. 24. She joins teammate Isabel Flens as a two-time recipient of the recognition this season.

Masters scored a pair of goals in helping 13th-ranked Northwestern earn a pair of road wins last weekend. She tied for the team lead with three shots, including two on goal, in Saturday's 2-1 win at Michigan State, helping the Wildcats gain sole possession of second place in the conference standings while remaining in contention for a share of the league title.

The following day at Central Michigan, Masters scored both of NU's goals in the first half of a 2-0 victory. It marked her second multi-goal game of the season after notching a hat trick vs. Iowa on Sept. 27.

Masters ranks second on the team with seven goals this season while her 65 shots rank fifth in the Big Ten.

Northwestern (14-4, 4-1 Big Ten) is ranked No. 12 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA poll and closes out its regular season at home this Friday against Ohio State. The contest begins at 2 p.m. and is being televised live by Big Ten Network.
