EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the second time this season, Northwestern sophomore Chelsea Armstrong has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. Four weeks into the 2009 campaign, Armstrong has twice as many goals (12) and more than double the amount of points (27) compared to the next highest individual totals in the Big Ten.

This weekend, Armstrong totaled six goals and one assist in NU's victories over Central Michigan and Miami (Ohio). Against the Chippewas, she assisted on Elizabeth Dobbs' goal to open the game's scoring before going on to score the next four for the Wildcats in a 5-2 win.

On Sunday, Armstrong needed less than three minutes to pick up where she left off the day before, scoring the opening goal in Northwestern's 3-2 defeat of host Miami (Ohio). After the RedHawks tied the game in the ninth minute and Sarah Marcincin gave the 'Cats a 2-1 lead, Armstrong scored what proved to be the game-clinching goal in the 18th minute off a feed from Dobbs.

Only eight games into the year, Armstrong--a lifelong defender for her club team in her native Australia--is already just the third Wildcat player since 2004 to score at least 12 goals in a season.

Northwestern has collected a total of four Offensive Player of the Week honors dating to the start of last season.

Armstrong and the Wildcats (6-2) return to Lakeside Field to face Missouri State at 2 p.m. Friday.
