    Armstrong, Troncelliti Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

    EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern senior Chelsea Armstrong (Perth, Australia/Penrhos) has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Caroline Troncelliti (Jeffersonville, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) has been recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday.

    Both players were vital in the Wildcats posting a perfect 4-0 record in the state of California, including wins over No. 11 Stanford and No. 16 California.

    Armstrong posted 11 points on five goals and one assist for the week. She scored the game-winning goal with 42 seconds remaining against California and followed it up with a pair of two-goal performances against Pacific and UC Davis. It is the 10th time in her career that Armstrong has earned the honor.

    Troncelliti tallied nine points on four goals and an assist for the week. She came up huge in the win over Stanford, recording a hat trick for the first three goals of her collegiate career. Troncelliti also notched a goal and an assist in the victory over Pacific.

    Northwestern (5-1) jumped up nine spots to No. 11 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The Wildcats return to action Sunday as they travel to ninth-ranked Duke for a noon Central time contest.
