EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern continues its season-opening stretch of eight consecutive games away from home as it heads to California for four contests. The Wildcats open up action at 2 p.m. Central time Wednesday at No. 11 Stanford.

NU then makes the short trip to Berkeley where it will play three games, beginning with a matchup against host and 16th-ranked California at 4 p.m. Friday. The contest is being televised by Pac-12 Networks. Check local listings for availability.

The road trip concludes with neutral site matchups against Pacific and UC Davis at 3 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. Monday, respectively.

Stanford opened its season with a commanding 10-0 win over LaSalle before dropping a 3-2 heartbreaker in double overtime to top-ranked Maryland. California is off to a 2-1 start as the Bears' lone loss was also by a one-goal margin at the hands of Maryland.

Northwestern, ranked No. 20 in the NFHCA preseason poll, split its first two matches of the season at the Cardinal Classic in Louisville last weekend. The Wildcats earned a 3-0 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. Chelsea Armstrong, Nikki Parsley and Tara Puffenberger tallied goals for the 'Cats while Maddy Carpenter made three saves in goal to earn the shutout.

NU was then nipped in the championship game of the Cardinal Classic on Sunday as 21st-ranked Northeastern converted on a penalty corner with no time remaining to hand the Wildcats a tough-luck 2-1 loss. Parsley had tied the match with under five minutes remaining for her second goal of the season.

The goal against Miami was No. 72 for Armstrong in her career, adding to the Northwestern career record for the two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.
