    2013 Northwestern Field Hockey Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. - Six home games in the month of September highlight the 2013 Northwestern field hockey schedule announced today (June 5).

Coming off of the program's most successful season in over a decade, the Wildcats open their campaign with an East Coast road trip. The slate gets underway Aug. 30 with a contest at Providence. Following a day off, NU rings in September by playing at Northeastern prior to a contest at UMass-Lowell the next day.

Northwestern returns to Evanston the following weekend as it takes on Boston University in its home opener Sept. 7. The contest begins a stretch of four out of five games played at Lakeside Field. A Monday matinee is on tap for Sept. 9 preceding a road contest at Ball State the following day.

NU is back home for two more nonconference matchups on Sept. 13 and 15 as it takes on California and Ohio, respectively. One more road trip is set for the following weekend prior to the start of Big Ten play. The Wildcats head to Duke for a second-consecutive season on Sept. 20 before a meeting at Virginia two days later.

League play gets underway at home on Sept. 27 as the Wildcats play host to Iowa. The Big Ten weekend continues two days later as Michigan makes the trip to Lakeside Field for what will be Northwestern's final home game in a little over a month.

NU competes on the road throughout the entire month of October as it plays six straight games away from home. The challenging stretch gets started Oct. 5 as the 'Cats travel to defending Big Ten champion Penn State Oct. 5. Northwestern steps outside conference play the following day with a match at Kent State.

Following a weekend off, the Wildcats return to action Oct. 18 at Indiana before heading to Louisville two days later. The extended road trip winds to a close Oct. 26 and 27 with matchups at Michigan State and Central Michigan, respectively.

Northwestern finally returns home Nov. 2 as it closes out its regular season with a Senior Day meeting with Ohio State.

The 2013 Big Ten Tournament is slated for Nov. 7-10 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Wildcats posted a 16-4 record in 2012, their winningest season since 1989. Head coach Tracey Fuchs welcomes back 15 letterwinners, including third-team All-American Tara Puffenberger and two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection Nikki Parsley as well as goaltender Maddy Carpenter.
