EVANSTON, Ill. -- Chelsea Armstrong scored two goals and assisted on another as the No. 9 Northwestern field hockey team cruised to its fifth straight win Friday afternoon, blanking Indiana 4-0.

It was the Wildcats' 12th victory in their last 13 contests.

NU dominated possession throughout the contest, but the Hoosiers were able to keep the 'Cats off the scoreboard throughout the majority of the first half. However, Northwestern got on the board first in the 22nd minute of play as Nikki Parsley played the ball in front of the cage and Armstrong tapped home the loose ball to put the hosts in front.

    Match Highlights
The lead grew to 2-0 at 30:54 when Armstrong fired a shot to the far post where Kaylee Pohlmeyer was waiting unattended to knock it in for her fourth goal of the year.

The advantage remained precariously at two until the midway point of the second stanza when Caroline Troncelliti fed a pass from the right to a waiting Maria Kovalchuk who beat Viki Greeen to give the Wildcats some more breathing room.

Northwestern put the game out of reach at 58:07 when Armstrong finished off the scoring by posting a goal off a penalty corner. Lisa McCarthy and Julia Retzky were credited with assists on the play. The goal was Armstrong's Big Ten-leading 22nd of the season.

NU finished with advantages of 14-5 in shots and 4-3 in penalty corners. Maddy Carpenter needed to make just one save to record the shutout.

The Wildcats return to action at 1 p.m. Sunday as they host Central Michigan.
