The Remenyik Open, named in honor of the first head coach in program history Charlotte Remenyik, is widely considered to be the largest fencing event in the Midwest. It was also one of the first to be sanctioned as a Regional Open Circuit (ROC) event.

The Wildcats sent a representative to the top spot on the podium in all three weapons at the 2011 Remenyik Open, including current senior Chloe Grainger in the sabre competition.

Six other current 'Cats placed in the top 10 in their respective weapons last season, led by foilist Dayana Sarkisova who finished as the runner-up to former teammate Devynn Patterson.

Kendrick Mooney tied for third in epée at the Remenyik a year ago, while NCAA-qualifier Courtney Dumas took fifth. Sonali Patel placed seventh and 2011 All-America First Team selection Kate Cavanaugh wound up in ninth place.

Senior Alicia Gurrieri, who already has a gold medal this season from the USFA Burton Open in October, also placed in the top 10 at last year's Remenyik, claiming a sixth-place finish.

The two-day competition begins Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 a.m. inside the main gymnasium at the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion. The Division I women's foil opens later that day at noon. The Division I women's epée begins at noon on Sunday, Nov. 3 with the Divison I women's saber commencing at 2 p.m. that day. For a complete schedule of events, please click here.
