    2014-15 Northwestern Fencing Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. -- With 15 consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Fencing Championships in the rearview mirror, Northwestern will look to extend that impressive streak during the upcoming 2014-15 season.

NU head coach Laurie Schiller has, once again, put together a scheduled that will challenge the 'Cats all year long. The season begins on October 5 with the United States Fencing Association (USFA) Burton Open at the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion and eventually concludes March 20-22 with the 2015 NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to the Burton Open, Northwestern will host three other events at Crown during the 2014 calendar year. The Wildcats will host the USFA Remenyik Open, named after former Northwestern coach Charlotte Remenyik, Oct. 25-26, and the first of two home dual meets on Sunday, Nov. 2. The first half of the schedule wraps up on Nov. 23 when NU holds the USFA Illinois Junior Olympic qualifying event.

The 'Cats also have two USFA North American Cups on the docket during the first two months, as well as a trip to South Bend, Ind. to face off against local rival Notre Dame.

Following winter break, the season kicks into high gear in January. Following a North American Cup, Northwestern begins a string of five consecutive dual meets with the Western Invitational on January 17 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The following weekend will see trips to Philadelphia and New York City before the Wildcats return to Evanston for the second installment of the NU Duals on January 31-February 1 at Crown. The grueling stretch continues with another trip east, to Durham, N.C., for the Duke Duals on Feb. 7.

The Midwest Fencing Conference Championships are slated for Feb. 21-22 at a location to be announced at a later date. On March 7, Northwestern will host the NCAA Midwest Regional at Crown in preparation for the NCAA Championships later in the month.
